Join us for a unique kayaking trip in the Southwest. Lake Powell, created when Glen Canyon was dammed in 1963, drowned beautiful deep canyons, along with ancient Puebloan archaeological sites and natural features, with as much as 400 feet of water. This haunting beauty was buried before environmental activists had an opportunity to thwart the dam. In the past half-decade, though, the Southwest has experienced a drought, causing Lake Powell to slowly evaporate, revealing some of the magic rock canyons that lie hidden beneath.
We use sturdy sea kayaks to explore the red rock geology of the region, paddling beneath amphitheatres and alcoves, squeezing into narrow gorges and taking off on foot to reach further into narrow slot canyons. Our mode of travel is silent, our vessels small, so we can squeeze into the smallest slots. With a thousand miles of shoreline, we can explore to our hearts' content.
This is an opportunity to experience Lake Powell's deep clear water and the desert canyons of Glen Canyon in harmony with nature. We camp on sandy beaches or atop rock ledges, sleeping under the stars. Join us!
