Participate in a water and hiking adventure in Tocantins, Brazil's newest state. Few have heard of this region of Brazil, and even fewer have visited. With a mixture of scrub forest and savanna, mountain plateaus reminiscent of the US Southwest, but with Clearwater rivers, waterfalls, and springs, this area offers a chance to visit an area of protected land that few have ever seen. Based at an eco-camp on the banks of a crystalline river (the only such eco-camp in the region), our small group will take daily forays out across the savannah to view birds and wildlife, and to experience the wonder of a landscape that holds the purest aquifer in all of Brazil. Visit karst caves with freshwater streams. Swim in magnificent, clear waterfalls, and kayak in rivers that are clean enough to drink from.
