Are you seeking a small-group wilderness adventure off the beaten path--one that offers physical challenge, yet provides you with opportunities for reflection and solitude? Join us for a river rafting, canoeing, sea kayaking, packrafting, backpacking or hiking base camp expedition in pure wilderness.
Since 1985, Equinox Wilderness Expeditions has explored Arctic wild rivers , coasts, glacial fjords and rugged mountain country, seeking out the unusual and the magnificent. We organize trips from British Columbia's Coast Mountains to the glacial fjords of Southeast Alaska, north to the sweeping tundra and mountains of the Alaska's wild arctic and the Brooks Range to northern Canada's High Arctic province of constant summer light. We are a small company, catering to a small number of adventurers every year.
We believe the earth's wild places offer a path for balancing the hectic pace of modern life with simplicity and a personal connection with the land. Here we find solitude and silence. Entering the land on its own terms--accepting the rhythms of wind, weather, and wildlife--we encounter natural ecosystems uninterrupted by human endeavor, and experience the diverse and rich flora and fauna of our wondrous planet. We connect with each other in ways that are often not possible in our day-to-day lives. This is the gift of wilderness.
We have alliances with adventure operators in Canada, Norway, Sweden and Argentina with whom we share a similar philosophy. We continue to build relationships with ecotourism operators around the world.
Check out our 2012 Schedule. This summer, we're emphasizing "light on the land" trips; we've organized a few pack rafting trips. In July, we'll go down the Jago River to the Beaufort Sea. In August, we hike and paddle our way down the . Our paddling and hiking trip on the Kongakut River--continues to be one of our most popular trips.
We are offering two trips on the Firth River, whose birthplace lies in the Arctic Refuge, and flows across Northern Yukon. This powerful river parallels the Kongakut's journey from the mountains to the sea. In British Columbia, we paddle the upper Stikine River through the Spatsizi Plateau.
We are proud that National Geographic Adventure Magazine rated us as one of the Best Adventure Tour Operators on the Planet, including one of the Top River and Sea Outfitters, for service, education, sustainability and spirit of adventure. We've been green since our beginnings in 1985, and we're still doing our best to protect the places we visit.
Whether you are interested in wildlife viewing, bird watching, photography, whitewater, fly fishing, peak bagging, or any other activity, we'll share with you pristine wilderness and help you find a balance between activity and contemplation. If you don't see a trip that is perfect, please inquire, as we are happy to create a custom itinerary or private adventure to suit your group, goals, and schedule.
