We like to talk personally with you about our expeditions. That helps us feel comfortable about your experience and your expectations, and we can help you choose a trip that best suits you. Our business office is home-based, and if we don't e-mail or call you back immediately, we may be out in the wilderness, where cyberspace means nothing! A live person will get back to you as quickly as possible.

We can send you itineraries of any of our trips by email, fax, or mail. We suggest that you make your travel plans early, as airlines, hotels and bed & breakfasts can fill up quickly. We also recommend that you reserve your trip by April 30th for summer trips. With our small group sizes, trips can fill quickly. Once summer arrives in early June, it is difficult to reach us, as we are out in the field much of the time.

To confirm space on a trip, call or email us, and send a deposit of $500 by check or money order. If you would like to conduct a bank transfer, let us know and we can set it up. We will send you an application to complete, or you may fill in the form below.

Once we receive your deposit, we will send you a confirmation letter, detailed trip itinerary, and pre-trip packet with clothing and equipment lists, reading material, suggested reading list and general information needed to prepare for your expedition. Final trip details are usually sent about 2 weeks prior to departure.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

At time of reservation: $500
Trip Balance is due 60 days prior to departure
A $100 surcharge is added to trips booked less than 30 days prior to trip departure.
Prices are quoted in US dollars, unless noted otherwise

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Due to the small size of our groups, and the short season, we must access cancellation fees:
**For cancellations made 90 or more days before trip departure, trip costs are refundable, less a $150 administrative fee.
**For cancellations made 60 to 89 days before trip departure, $500 trip deposit will be retained.
**For cancellations made 30 to 59 days before trip departure, 50 percent of trip cost will be retained.
**For cancellations made less than 30 days before trip departure, full payment for the entire trip will be retained.

All travel in wilderness Alaska and Canada is dependent on weather and air taxi schedule changes. We reserve the right to adjust dates/times or other trip details because of circumstances beyond our control. The cost of any delays because of bad weather, sickness or other contingencies is not covered by trip costs. We carry emergency food in anticipation of such delays; your meals in the field are covered for any extra days we spend in the wilderness due to circumstances beyond our control.

If you purchase nonrefundable discount air tickets for your trip to Alaska, allow at least one day at the end of your trip before returning home. Delays due to weather are not uncommon.

SOLO TRAVELERS

Tent accommodations are based on double occupancy. We will pair you up with a tent mate, in order to save on the weight of our gear. If you specifically desire single accommodations, we suggest that you bring your own tent, or we can provide you with one, but we will have to add a single supplement to your cost. On trips that include bed and breakfast or hotel accommodations, a single supplement may be added to your trip cost if you insist on a private room.

CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL

Weather has been known to affect our schedule, e.g., the ability of our bush pilot to reach us safely. If we must spend an extra night or more out in the field, due to weather or other reasons beyond our control, you are responsible for your own hotel, meals, and rescheduling costs. In traveling to remote regions, we accept the vagaries of weather, and carry emergency provisions for times like this. We charge no additional fees for these extra days. Likewise, we don't always get out into the wilderness the day we hope to. Any additional costs associated with delays are your responsibility.

TRIP AND TRAVEL INSURANCE

You may want to obtain trip cancellation/interruption insurance, since unanticipated business demands, family problems, unforeseen emergencies and personal injuries occasionally occur. We recommend TravelGuard, phone at 1-877-248-8992. Trip cancellation insurance may cover loss of deposits and payments for both air travel and land cost, as well as lost baggage. Inquire with your insurer about the limitations.

You may also want to obtain travel accident insurance. Medical facilities are distant and both difficult and costly to reach. If you have had recent or recurrent medical problems, you should inquire with your insurer regarding limitations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A TRIP PARTICIPANT

Please read the trip application release carefully before signing. You are responsible for understanding these conditions and selecting a trip appropriate to your abilities. You need to honestly assess your physical fitness and mental fortitude. Any limitations in your physical conditions must be disclosed. We are happy to discuss the physical strenuousness of any trip. We've had trip participants from age 2 to 94. Age is not a limitation; only your physical abilities and your mental attitude. Please review our trip categories and choose accordingly. Our hiking and river expeditions in Arctic Alaska are special experiences in true wilderness and, as such, they also carry an element of risk. Trip locales are remote, and away from the amenities of civilization, including sophisticated medical care and immediate evacuation possibilities. Our trips carry a satellite phone or VHF radio, but even with this technology, communication with the outside world can be difficult and emergency assistance can be days away. Weather in Alaska is unpredictable, and inclement weather can be severe. If you are not comfortable with this degree of remoteness, our trips are probably not suited to you. You are also responsible for preparing adequately for a trip. You need to bring appropriate clothing and equipment, and you need to pack within the weight limits allowed. Once on a trip, if there is a situation where the leader feels your further participation may endanger or be detrimental to you or other participants, you may be asked to leave a trip. If you are evacuated, you will be responsible for any extra transportation costs, and your trip costs will not be refunded.

CANCELLED TRIPS

We reserve the right to do so, due to inadequate sign-ups or other reasons. We've only had to do this once in the past 21 years, and hopefully, we'll never have to. But, if we do have to cancel a trip, we will give you a full refund. We are not, however, responsible for your other expenses, such as air tickets, equipment, or clothing.
